While it was not my inspiration for wearing this hat...I did end up getting royal wedding fever despite my best efforts to ignore it. You see, after the death of Diana Spencer in 1997, I became absolutely obsessed with her. I was 15 years old and bought a plum polyester skirt suit from the Juniors section at Macy's and wore it to school to be like her. Really? A 15 year old wearing a skirt suit in 1997? It was unheard of and, most likely, ill-fitting. I bought lots of merchandise which, I'm sure, is still in my parents garage. I also made it a double obsession when I decided I was in love with William. He was a very handsome 15 year old! I also taped Diana's version of Candle in the Wind off the radio onto cassette, listened to it over and over over again, and cried. Embarrassing confessions aside, I was truly inspired by her charitable heart and am still inspired by her.
Anyway, this was what I wore on Saturday. :)
Hat: Vintage
Blouse: Vintage
Skirt: Vintage
Ring: Anthro
Bag: Dean
Shoes: Dieppa Restrepo (I can't stop wearing them!)
Belt: c/o Lulu's
Thanks for reading everyone. You're all just the sweetest and your comments make my day brighter!

This is likely one of the sweetest outfits of yours ever. The eyelet print of the cropped top, and the fit and flare silhoutte of the skirt couldn't be more perfect. And then the pearl bows are like cherries on top. Very royal wedding inspired!

ReplyDeleteas a devout anglophile, i can totally relate to the affection for the royal family. and watching the wedding made me think how unfortunate it is that americans haven't embraced hats like the british! everyone looks so much more interesting with a hat! either way, you look lovely dear! xoxo, laura
ReplyDeletei adore this outfit on you, as i adore every outfit you put on! i love the cropped top, and the skirt is the most fabulous color!

Steffys Pros and Cons
a very cute outfit! LOVE the hat. i, too, admit to having an obsession with princess diana (even before she died). i credit my australian/malaysian (commonwealth) upbringing for that. i was totally swept up in royal wedding fever. i brought my daughters to the royal wedding party we had, complete with cucumber sandwiches, tea and scones and topped off with fascinators! my little girls loved the idea that there was a 'real' princess involved! we keep watching the videos. i even blogged about it.

that is theee perfect skirt and the cutest little top and oh man, that pink bag with that ring?! perfect. my mom was in love with Diana, too, so I was also in love with her by default. We had a good cry when she passed... but she really was an amazing woman and definitely used her prestige/status for honorable causes!
ReplyDeleteI just love everything! And your skirt I want! beautiful!

HAHAHA. I think i was born a year or maybe the same year as Prince William. How old is he now (I'm an '83 baby)? I remember i had ONE picture of him from when I was about 14 and thought he was cute. I definitely see he's grown . . to look a lot like his dad. haha. You look beautiful as always.
