Shades of Green.

I was just wondering how many shades of green exist. I think I covered most of them in this outfit. It was a little chilly to be out in bare legs but sometimes you just didn't factor tights into an outfit and you just have to go ahead and deal with it.

Oh, and I got new Rachel Comeys! These are probably my favorite shoes ever. Luckily, I guess people in Nashville don't have the same taste in shoes as me because I got these for less than they cost to make (guessing). Thank you Nashville!

Does anyone have any tips on really warm tights? I have the fleece ones from American Apparel and I do like them but they're $35 and ball up after one wash. Please tell me you gals who are used to winters are keeping some warm comfy tights a secret! :)

Hope you're enjoying what's left of fall...I have certainly had my fill of Pumpkin Spice Lattes..but I'll have more before it's over. Oh, yes, I will.

Anyway, I have to go see Breaking Dawn. Who's seeing it? What did you think? Ok, See ya! :)

It's getting chilly,

  1. So many lovely greens and blue! I just stocked up on some droll leg wear at CVS impulsively today. I always rip tights the first time I wear them it seems.

  6. Those heels are gorgeous~ and go so well with the green!

For tights, I actually go with thick ones from a local drugstore (make sure they aren't opaque). However, I do also have an amazingly warm pair from Banana Republic. I assume you could find thick tights there as well as GAP.
Best of luck looking for a pair!

  7. coury, the green & blue colors in your pretty argyle print dress definitely suit the trees, & grass. tights: try forever 21, very reasonable prices. you can see what the materials are made of online. look for thicker tights of a cotton/polyester blend instead of a mostly nylon. the cotton/poly will keep you warm, & withstand washings. if they look too delicate, or say handwash only they won't work well for winter, i've had good luck with target in the past, but recently i haven't seen much online, or in stores, as far as selection. some people may suggest wool, but i find wool itchy.

  8. I really like your dress!! Cute Cute! As for tights - ya know sometimes I actually would wear leggings underneath my nylon tights OR I have doubled up on nylons/tights before, I have a pair of tights with holes, and I would wear another color underneath to add a little extra something. Or, I have gotten really thick tights from Old Navy before, they have lasted me years! Umm, yes to Breaking Dawn. The problem is finding other closet Twilight fans to go with. haha. My husband might take me since he knows how badly I 'secretly' want to see it. Such an amazing man he is!

  16. my tights secret for cold weather is to layer them! two pairs really makes a difference and no one can tell, unless you want them to.
if this can keep me warm in canada, it should work for you too :)

  17. gorgeous! :) My most worn pair of tights came from Mod Cloth, but when we lived in Kansas City with the below 0 temps and snow, I did what dylanatthebeach said...layered tights.

I can't wait to go see Breaking Dawn tonight! My husband and I attempted to do it last night but there was a miserably long line in the freezing cold before even 9 o'clock, so we're trying again tonight :)

  22. re: tights - double up! sometimes i wear 3 pairs when it's really, really cold.

  23. I'm seeing it tonight! Super stoked. I hope I see lots of overly zealous teens. And for affordable but great quality warm tights, I always try GAP and welovecolors.com. Super cheap yet amazing qaulity! I'm a tights fanatic. : )

  24. I wish this was "chilly" for me!! It's not even below 0 there yet from the looks of it! It's about -25 and even colder with the wind chill in good old Canada today. I simply have to just suck it up and be cold if I decide on tights!! Usually doubling them is the only thing you can do unless you want itchy wool or overly thick tights.

I absolutely love the greens on you :)

  25. The best place to get thick tights/leggings are dance stores! Slightly more expensive, but they're better quality and they're warm! Also, like lots of people have already said, doubling up is really warm.

  26. I get mine at DSW -- either Ann Taylor or HUE sweater tights. They're warm, thick and hold their shape. Plus since they're at DSW they're usually discounted!

  33. Definitely invest in sweater tights. I use the ones from Target. They're really warm and soft and come in a few different colors and textures.

  34. Well, green is definitely your color! Heck, EVERY color is your color. You look amazing in them all.

In regards to tights, I purchased a 3-pack of Betsey Johnson black tights (I'm sure there's other colors) from Marshalls. They've lasted me a long time and haven't snagged or ripped on me once! I also wash them in a lingerie/laundry bag so that might make them last longer. Hope this helped! Good luck on your search.

  37. I really like the third photo. And the shoes. PS - Do you know any good spots for finding vintage shoes in Los Angeles, or do you usually buy new? I can always find vintage shoes in size 4 or 5, but I'm a 9 :-/

  40. I have soo many tights. The thicker sweater ones are from Forever 21 I think, most others from Target. I buy cheap because I seem to always rip them. You could also wear tights then layer knee highs over that to stay warm :)

  41. Gorgeous green toned outfit...I love green! Beautiful dress. If you lived in the UK I would recommend Primark super cosy tights with a fleece lining and only about £2.50 a pair I think but unless you can get someone to get hold of some for you that's probably completely useless!
