Heart on my sweater and a pancake party!

I had some fabric left over from this amazing mustard velvet dress from the shop a few months ago so I thought I would put it to good use. Not much that's better than clothing with hearts on it. Geez, okay, you got me again...there are LOTS of thing that are better. Anyway, hearts are still amazing. So are pancakes and the recipe below is reeeeeeeeal good.

I also love how floaty this dress is for Spring and this unseasonably warm day I wore it on. Sighs all around! ♥

Wearing:
Dress: Fancy Treehouse
Sweatshirt: Alternative Apparel
Mint trench: Romwe
Boots: Swedish Hasbeens
Bag: Francesca's Collections

So, Gabe always begs me to make pancakes. I finally indulged him the other day. It really was just so much fun. We were warm and cozy and Birdie got to enjoy it too. I'll say it again, "Why can't smallish well behaved doggies come to brunch with their owners??" Well, she can when it warms up and we eat somewhere outside so I'll just shut up.

If these pancakes were just for me, I would load them up with colorful fruit or candy or something. Next time I'll do that but my dining companion requested syrup alone and we only entertain "real" syrup around here. There's a huge difference, y'allz.

I felt the batter was a bit thick to work with so I would suggest adding a bit more milk. Perhaps an extra 1/8 cup or so.

Buttermilk Pancakes:
serves 2 to 3 people
recipe adapted from the kitchn.

5 tablespoons of butter

1-1/4 cups flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 egg, separated

1 cup buttermilk

1/4 cup milk

Melt the butter and set aside to cool for a little bit.
Meanwhile, put the flour, sugar, baking powder and soda, and salt in a medium sized bowl and whisk to combine.
In another bowl, add the yolk from the egg and the buttermilk and the regular milk and whisk until well mixed. Add the butter and whisk.
Add the yolk and milk mixture to the flour mixture and stir until just barely combined. Add the egg white and keep stirring until a thick batter is formed. Do not over mix.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. When the pan is hot, lower the flame a little and drop the batter by spoonfuls. The batter will spread. When bubbles break on the surface, peek underneath a pancake. It should be golden brown. If so, flip with a spatula and cook the other side.
Remove from the skillet when the second side is done and continue on with the remaining batter.

I'm planning on shaking things up here on the blog. I want to start sharing more of my life than just outfits with you if that's alright. I just need a signature from each of my followers to sign off on this change. Jk. Lol.

Anyway, hope you guys had a great weekend! I'll catch up on your blogs in the morning! ♥

XO Coury
