Changes.

Hello all!
I want to begin to view this blog as more of a way to document my life, not just my outfits.
I realized that I've been doing this on instagram and (now vine) for awhile now and the blog seems more like an afterthought. So rude to my blog. It deserves to be loved by me and it will once I treat it how it should be treated. I also miss interacting with everyone here. I didn't realize that disabling comments would make it feel so shut off. I don't like it. Sooo, I will open up my sensitive heart once again and enable them. :)

In a way, I consider this my first post. I posted this photo on instagram and realized I couldn't say all I wanted to say about it. Then I realized that expressing myself is supposed to be the point of a blog. Lightbulb!

I always hoped and prayed for a little girl of my own. I also hoped and prayed she would love to read. I'm tearing up right now thinking about how much joy books have brought me since I was a tiny girl. When I was old enough to read Nancy Drew, all bets were off. I snuck a flashlight under my covers so many times and drifted away into Nancy's world of ordering cinnamon toast in hotels and solving harmless mysteries. I then devoured every Boxcar Children, Forever Friends, and Babysitters Club books as I could find. It's such a precious part of life to me.

We have been reading to Goldie several times a day and seeing the wonder and magic on her face melts my heart. I will never really grow up because I get such joy out of childish things....but seeing things through a child's eyes for the first time is absolutely indescribable.

I can't wait to introduce her to every book I loved as a child/young adult and also to new books that she can have as her own special memories. She currently can't get enough of the Berenstain Bears.

Life is so beautiful sometimes that I could just burst. I love my little bookworm.

Ok, I promise to give this blog the attention it needs and to share more of my life with you.
Be sure and let me know if there's anything special you'd like to see.

What were your favorite books growing up?

XO, Coury

  6. hoooray coury! :) it's YOUR blog, you should always do whatever you want with it. i'm so happy you are opening your comments again, because after every post i want to gush or express something joyful about what you've shared, and now i can again. i totally understand why you had to protect yourself though. sometimes people are unkind and hurtful. it's like they don't realize we are sharing parts of are soul out there for anyone to see, but it's not like we want their judgement. goldie is beautiful. i'm thrilled she enjoys stories. as someone who has a degree in early childhood, and has worked with kids from 6 weeks through high school you reading to her is one of the best things you can do for her, well besides loving her, but you know what's best for your daughter. you don't need anyone else to tell you what you should do.

  9. I'm not on Facebook, so I haven't been able to comment, but I've been following your blog for awhile and I just love your unique perspective. I gobbled up the Nancy Drew books too and have some wonderful memories of my mom reading them to me. Now my husband and I are playing the games and having a blast, lol.

  10. You're adorable and I'm so glad I get to tell you that!

My dad read to my sisters and me every night growing up. We got to "Hop on Pop" while he read anything and everything, from bizarre and awesome children's books like "Heckety Peg" and "The Rainbow Goblins" to touching stories like "The Polar Express" and every "Carl" adventure.

Growing up I loved "Babysitter's Club" and "Sweet Valley" books! So much! I've carried my love of reading to this day.

  11. Ahh, there have been so many times I have wanted to comment recently, so glad you opened them back up! I think that taking your blog in a new direction is a great idea because it should be about what makes you the happiest and most passionate, and obviously Goldie is a huge part of that now! I love that first picture and can't wait to see more!

  21. I'm so glad you have turned comments back on. Goldie is growing so beautifully, and you seem to be making the change into motherhood with such grace!

I'm also glad you are deciding to go a bit more personal here. Don't get me wrong, I love your outfits, but I have always felt that blogs which were a bit more personal were that much more welcoming (hence why I have started afresh with mine). All the best! xxx

  37. Did you like the old Nancy Drew movies from the 30s too? I love those. I couldn't get into books too much as a child but should probably re-read them. I read a couple Hardy Boy books when I was about 8. My mom read them and prefered them to Nancy Drew, so she had more Hardy Boys for my brothers than Nancy Drew for me. :: shrugs :: I was a tomboy anyway, since I had no girls to befriend & had only my brothers.
