Summer Makeup Favorites (LaurenVon Guest Post)

Hello! I'm Lauren, sister to Coury, Auntie to Goldie and beauty loyalist. Very excited to say that I will be popping into the fancytreehouse from time to time! I am so very happy to be part of the wonderful brand that my sister has created. A little background on me: I am a licensed Esthetician which gives me a different view of makeup because I always have skin's health in mind. I use a mix of drugstore and high end makeup and am constantly learning about and trying new products. I will be sharing my tips, favorite products and tutorials in the coming months. I so look forward to your comments and your suggestions of post topics!

Today I'm featuring my current favorite summer beauty products. I use these every day and I hope you are able to try some of them!

The gang's all here!

If you haven't heard of Real Techniques brushes I am so excited to introduce you! Best brushes, meet fancytreehouse-ers. One of my favorite makeup artists, Samantha Chapman, created this fool proof and affordable brush line and I take a moment to thank her every time I use these brushes. If you want the flawless, line-less, blotch-less look that I want, these might need to make your Christmas list!

My clear skin secret is a gift straight from heaven to my face. BIODERMA. Amazon.com, order some now, ill wait. ;) this cleansing water changed my life and I will talk to anyone who will listen about it. It levels skin's pH, cleanses, tones, beautifies, purifies, lovely-fies. I can't go a day without it! I use a cotton pad to sweep this gentle toner over my face before primer/foundation.

Next is Korres Antiageing primer. This leaves the face feeling smooth, clean and ready for foundation. One of my beauty icons, Bobbi Brown, teaches that preventative skin care starts at 20. It's very important to treat your skin as a fragile, breakable thing. There should be no movement of the skin when applying any product.

Summer Magic foundation (yes, I just wanted to add one of my favorite movie titles. Coury and I are very related :) this Long Wear formula is a God send during this hot & humid southern summer. It's touted as lasting for up to 12 hours. I have made it up to 8 hours and that is a MIRACLE! I love BB's products because they always address the skin care aspect of makeup.
My concealer of choice is Bobbi Brown face touch up stick. Made to blend flawlessly with her foundation, this stick melts right into your trouble areas and hides blemishes beautifully.
Adding to my Flower collection is this Zoom-In Mascara that adjusts to three widths for length, volume and curl. I tried out the brown shade and I love the natural look it brought to my eyes.

This Nars blush in gaiety is my go-to. It is build-able and smooth & I do not feel like myself without a happy & bright pink cheek!

As you can tell from the group picture, or from my many mentions on Instagram, the Flower brand is my current love. Drew Barrymore is behind this line and it's brand message is high end quality, drug store price. I use this brow defining pencil every day. Very easy to create numerous brow shapes with this product.
My trick/tip of the day is this Scandal-eyes pencil in nude by Rimmel. Adding this to your waterline will open the eyes and brighten in a whole new way!

The original Naked palette is used daily by me. Especially sinvirgin and toastedThis baby is so great for every single season. Urban Decay has the best shadow formula in my opinion.

I have been using the same Sephora rouge shine pink in So Cute for two years now, on an almost every day basis. Lipstick is my poison of choice, and boy do I choose it! It's so hard to pick one but this lovely rose pink is always finding its way into my purse (along with 10 others...maybe 20...:)

I finish off my summer look with this wonderful Flower polish, which has a built in top coat! Hows that for ease! Let me tell you... This stuff stays on WAY longer than any polish I've ever tried and its only $4. This Gorgeous Gerbera has a beautiful color payoff.

  2. i was very disappointed recently when i discovered that bobbi brown tests on animals. i plan to use up what products i have left, but don't plan on buying this line again. i am a bunny owner and bunnies are what they test a lot of makeup products on.

    1. Hopefully one day every single product will be animal testing-free! If you check out BB's website you can read about how they do not test on animals.

    2. they are owned by estee lauder who tests on animals so yes they do. they used to be cruelty free but to sell their products in china they have to be tested on animals. check out leapingbunny.org for a list of cruelty free companies.

  14. Your make up looks lovely, but some of those brands use sketchy ingredients. I have very sensitive skin and have done a lot of research to avoid products that cause irritation. Maybe you can find similar products without harsh ingredients and do a tutorial with those!

  22. Makup does help in eliminating glare on the face from the flash and use make up to accent the cheekbones. Cameras often pull more red out of flesh tones so be cautious of too much blush. Back to school beauty tips
